Our story
Kajikajy grew out of a challenge its founder, Erick Rafanomezantsoa, faced while running his own business. He initially wanted a simple way to keep track of what he owed and what others owed him. That need led him to develop the first prototype.
Another challenge arose when it was time to meet his tax obligations. Focused on running the business, he rarely had time to gather the information and financial documents required for filing and regularly relied on his brother to prepare them. The final tax amount, moreover, only became clear when the documents were submitted to the tax authority. This made it difficult to anticipate how much would be due and set aside the cash needed to pay it.
The project gradually evolved around a simple idea: the transactions recorded each day should help entrepreneurs understand their financial position. From those same records, Kajikajy can generate the business’s financial statements and provide an ongoing estimate of its tax obligations throughout the year.
Once the prototype was ready, Erick showed it to Fenohasina Rabarijaona, a developer and technology leader with around ten years of experience. Drawn to the project, Fenohasina decided to join him as co-founder. Together, they turned the prototype into the business management app Kajikajy is today.
Our mission
Our mission is to make business management accessible to entrepreneurs who have little time to devote to it and do not always have tools suited to their day-to-day work.
We want them to understand exactly where their business stands and what they can do to move it forward. Over time, they build a financial track record that can strengthen their credibility with banks and microfinance institutions.
Business management should give them that clarity every day and help them build a sustainable business.
Designed and developed in Madagascar
Kajikajy is designed around the realities faced by entrepreneurs in Madagascar. A smartphone is often their main work tool, while internet access can be unreliable. The app supports cash and Mobile Money payments. It also takes local accounting, tax and social-security requirements into account.
It works without a permanent internet connection and is available in French, Malagasy and English. Developing Kajikajy in Madagascar allows us to build a product shaped directly by local needs and the way its users work.
Madagascar is Kajikajy’s starting point. From there, we aim to bring the solution to countries where small businesses face similar realities.
Our vision
We want to help businesses in Madagascar grow and ensure that the value they create can endure and be passed on. Kajikajy is designed to support that journey, from a business run by one person to a company that can keep operating beyond its founder.
Our long-term ambition is to build a trusted environment around Kajikajy that supports business development. Day-to-day management will remain its foundation. A reliable record of business activity, together with new services, will gradually build on it.
